In 1982 Graham and Mary Ford and their children (Bill, Bob, Cathie and Tony), relocated from Warriewood Beach, Sydney to South Australia’s Eyre Peninsula and purchased a licence to catch wild abalone from the waters of South Australia’s West Coast.
Coupled with their fishing interests the family set about establishing a vineyard on the shores of Boston Bay following the advice of a friend and the early predictions of the French explorers Nicholas Baudin and Citizen Freycinet who suggested that Boston Bay would be a good place to grow grapes naming it “Port du Champagny” and Boston Island “Isle de la Grange”.
Celebrating its 30th year in 2014, this Eyre Peninsula wine outpost grows premium riesling, sauvignon blanc, chardonnay, cabernet, merlot and shiraz grapes of profound quality, producing wine as vital, fresh and clean as the Great Southern Ocean which laps at the vineyard’s edge.
We believe there is no better experience than succumbing to the spectacular views of Boston Bay, complimented by our locally grown wine with a dash of history supporting its unique bouquet and palate.
Boston Bay Wine is available for tasting and purchase at our cellar door which is located six kilometres north of Port Lincoln on the Lincoln Highway.
